What would you think are acceptable parameters for a "reward", to help curb the insane cravings?

I beleive chris rock put it best.

"I ain't never been to jail." What do you want, a cookie? You're not supposed to go to jail you low expectation having mothafucka"

altho in this case i guess you probaly actually do want a cookie, so bad example.

Point is, your reward is having the cravings slowly diminish, and getting to put new holes in your belt. so far as the cravings go, feel free to eat as many carrot sticks, celery sticks, or lettuce as you please.

Yeah, in a Nazi sort of way...

But really, if your wanting to change eating habits, food can never, ever in any way be a reward again. Its a terrible habit.
"I got paid today! Macdonalds for lunch for me!"
"I lived another year! I'm gonna goto a buffet for dinner, then eat half a slab of cake!"
"I had a shitty day at work. time to drink heavily and make it go away!"
Food Food Food Food. Self destructive.

I find it helps to control my insane desires for food, by every now and then saying "Ok, you can have one thing." And now I'm full of food and guilt and I know I'm not gonna want junk food for a while.

The thing is, would you tell a drug addict that its ok to shoot up once in awhile as a reward for not shooting up all week? Its a very good idea to give yourself a reward. It just cannot be food.

Except the drug user is already shooting up every three hours, just less than he's used to.

Food addiction is one of the hardest to deal with. Alcoholics dont need alcohol to survive. drug addicts dont need thier drugs. Its not easy having to stare your foe down every day, 5-6 times per day. Unfortunatly, you still cant use it as a reward. take the money you save on snacks and buy warhammer modles, or upgrades for a gaming computer maybe?

Hell, I'm happy all this extra money goes to paying off the line of credit.

I agree with you, don't worry (I'm also nauseous at the hot dogs I just ate).

So, an update for our breathless.... reader.

I don't think I'll be doing that again.

Maybe I detoxed all the crap I've been eating over the past several weeks / months / years, but over the past two weeks I've been extremely dilligent when it comes to my diet. Tuna, crackers, small portions, more vegetables, more smoothies. My vitamins, more sleep, walking regularly (even worked out twice!) Whatever it was...

... I've been more or less in agony since yesterday, when I bought my 'reward'. Even by my standards, this was sub-quality food, but I thought I deserved it. Let's explore a little bit of this timeline:

    • 1 Second - Delicious.
    • 5 Seconds - Still delicious.
    • 2 minutes - Odd aftertaste, still delicious.
    • 15 minutes - Why am I sweating?
    • 30 minutes - What an odd sensation...
    • 60 minutes - My stomach hurts
    • 61 minutes until present - General gastrointestinal agony, plus I have a cold now. The last part might be a coincidence.

Yes, it was delicious. But I don't think I can do that again. I like real food too much to go back now. *shakes fist angrily*
