Canada day was a bit of a bust. Went and wandered around the park for a bit, CJ managed to convince me that it was my patriotic duty to buy a blizzard from DQ (Canada is supposed to be cold, thus a blizzard was needed she said).

This morning was a waste, as i decided sleep was more important than cardio. As i'm now down nearly 2lbs in 9 days, i thought it was acceptable.

Tonight its off to class. could be a bit of a late night, as Sensei Rick is in town. And as hes more or less a machine, should be a decent workout.

Weekend went ok. Saturday morning i transported a new fridge from the brick to my appartment, and i'm counting that as exercise. Later in the day while playing some WC3 i opted to do some work between levels. every time i finished one, i would do 5 pulls, 10 situps, 15 push, 20 legs (or what i deemed equivalent). my grand total was as follows

    10 pullups
    10 chinups
    10 n.g. pullups
    60 situps
    90 pushups
    20 lunges
    60 squats
5 one leg squats per side

Not a bad day. also not a good one. this time last year i was hammering out over 300 reps in 30 minutes. this was done slowly over the course of 2 hours. gotta change that.

Sunday i more or less took off. I did however try doing tabata burpes. Wow. thats all i can say. Totaly kicked my ass. the tabata system is 20s go, 10s rest, repeat for 4 minutes. i managed 7 reps during the 20s of go time for the first pass, 6 for the second, 5 for the third and i was done. no more. supposed to do 8 cycles!!!

Monday morning, i got up and tried the tabata again. numbers wree 7, 7, 7, exhausted, so there was a definat improvemant. thats a 16% improvement in just one day. more than enough to impress me. going to do more tomorrow, and see if i can keep this ball rolling.

Tonight my workout is unknown. probaly will be as follows, will edit if differant:
    10 n.g. pull
    15 situps
    20 standard pushups
    5 wide squat
    5 standard squat
    5 narrow squat
    5 lunges
3 one leg squat per side
    10 pullups
    15 situps
    10 hindu pushups
    10 wide grip pushups
    5 wide squat
    5 squat
    5 narrow squat
    5 lunge
    3 one leg squat
    10 chinups
    15 leg lifts
    10 overhead pushups
    10 elbow tuck pushups
    5 wide squat
    5 squat
    5 narrow squat
    5 lunge
    3 one leg squat

Sounds like alot, but really its only 204 reps. I should be doing 300-400 per day.

    July 7 2009

    morning burpees
    7-7-7-7-done
Thats half way through the tabata, and a HUGE improvement over last time. in 3 days i've managed to increase my rep-load by 55% (10 reps). I'm sure at this point its more my body becoming acustom to the movement than me actually building strength and endurance, but still, nice to see that kind of improvement over 3 days.

Tonights workout is Karate. Most likely stretching, orange/green review, block/punch drills then breakfalls/throws.

Well, strength training took a slightly differant form yesterday when i went to help carry drawings and specs from universal. i figure lugging a bankers box completly full of specs and a drawing roll roughly 9" in diameter from universal back to the office counts for somthing. Then last night CJ wanted to make this pudding/cake/brownie thing she makes, but we needed cream. So I ran to the corner store, but walked back so as to avoid generating whipped cream.

All in all i figure my effort for the day was about a 5/10. I'm trying to get that up to closer to 7/10 on a daily baisis.

Pretty sad looking log thus far this month, but i need to keep reminding myself this isnt about building strength right now. It's about cutting fat.

Been just doing my burpees every morning. Today i hit 5 sets of 7. so in 8 days of them i've gone from 18 to 35. Not to shabby if you ask me. Hopefully i can push a bit more outta myself over this week. By the end of the month i want to be at the full 8 sets of 7, and by the end of august i want to be doing 10 sets of 8 every morning.

    July 18

Took Friday off from exercise. Way to over-tired/sun-stroked/dehydrated.

This morning, back at the burpees. 8-8-8-7. Figure its time to start upping the reps per set, as i'm getting faster.

Definatly going to be able to hit my goal of 8-8-8-8-8 by end of month. As i'm a fan of setting goals slightly beyond the realm of reason, my new goal is the complete 8 sets at 8 reps per set.

Did some light burpee work saturday, nothing sunday. Drove to Van on monday, and spent most of my day in the car driving around handing out resumes. Tuesday went downtown to do the same by foot. Figure we put on about 12km worth of walking on tuesday, and when done in proper leather dress shoes... it kinda breaks your will to live.

Back to the game tonight. Gonna try and do some advancements on my burpees. I want to make it so every 2nd rep i add a chinup. May not be able to do this as my bar isnt exactaly designed to have me leap onto it... but we'll see. worst case it'll be the burpees as normal with some added pulls.

Have to say, these HAVE been working. Absolutly incredible exercise system. I'm down 3lbs since i started it, and feel stronger and fitter than ever.

    Thursday was karate.

Today i did 50 burpees in 4 minutes 39 seconds, followed by a pushup plank for 30 seconds, 20 pushups, 15 pushups, 3 n.g. pulls, 3 chins, 3 pulls, and 174cal in 10min on the eliptical

All in all, pretty good workout. little light on my pulls.

Spent the weekend/monday night doing renovations/repairs. Installed a new light fixture, fixed some doors, took up a tile cleaned up the dead mud, fixed some toilets... basicaly filled my activity quota with real work.

This morning i did a short burpees set of 8-8-8, tonight its tuesday, which means back to karate. I'm hoping that tomorrow i'll get some free time to do a modified version of the workout i did last friday. Need to incoperate at least twice as many pulls otherwise its way to unbalanced. Also want to reduce my time to do 50 burpees, and incease my pushup plank time.

The ultimate goal is 100 burpees in 5 minutes. there are guys who can do it in close to 4.5, and i wanna be one of them. This one exercise has done more to inspire and transform me than any i've tried before, and I want to see how far it can take me.

Well, karate never happened. The head instructor had to work, and his second in command was working late.

Instead last night I did the following:
50 burpees in 4 min 3 seconds. if i recall, thats an improvement of about 36 seconds from last friday. not gonna complain.
40 second pushup plank. up 10 seconds
    25, then 20 pushups for a total of 45. up 10.
pulls never happened as i managed to sprain my index finger at some point on monday, and it was not happy with me by workout time. on the bright side this morning it feels fine.

All in all, not a bad workout. skipped the cardio because the burpees more or less destroyed my will to live. spent the rest of the night coughing like an asmatic. I think it means its working.
